This is me, but not so much.
When we grow up, we change. And that’s all right. Sometimes, it is a difficult matter, because changes can make us feel afraid. Just imagine, all of a sudden, your whole body transforms, and that little safe place that kept you warm during all your life, becomes strange without even letting you know! Those things that we once loved, are not our favourites any more, and you stop looking alike anybody, because you start looking like yourself.
And just like that, one realizes, that it's me, but not so much.

Sometimes, I forget I was once a little kid.
Yes, exactly what you are reading. I was a little girl once. But then, I gre up, and I forgot that I loved to get my knees dirty with mud, or that I was afraid of swimming in the ocean, and I could only do it if my dad was close by, or that sometimes, I was a little bit jealous of my brother being younger than me, because that meant that he had more time left to be a little kid.
Until I realized something that changed my thoughts: those who write books for kids, are usually adults. And so I asked myself, how do they do that?

How to write for kids if I’m already an adult.
You'll have to read your favourite book again. And not your favourite book now, but the one that made you feel love for books when you were a little one. Yes, that book that is classified under the "children's literature" section. Because I believe, that's a lie! All books are for everyone.
You shall define what is it that you have to tell, and play with the way in which you do it. Dare to experiment with your writing as if you were a kid, because for some reason, we allow ourselves to be more playful when we are kids, and growing up doesn't mean we cannot be playful as adults.
And now, the most important thing: to find your inner child. That young soul that you forgot you had, but is still there, in your memories and in your heart. The only thing you have to do is just say "hi!".
So remember, sometimes we might feel that the person we knew is no longer with us. But that’s the most wonderful thing about telling stories! We can find each other again through our words.
Personally, I always find my-little-self when I tell a little story:
Once upon a time, there was a fish, who fell in love with a squid.
There’s no much sense. I know. But I like it, and that’s okay. So then I allow myself to like it, or even love it, and I imagine a fish, thinking about its next date with a squid. Because that is what storytelling is about: allowing ourselves to think without limiting our ideas, to have fun and dare to discover what is it that we have in our hearts.
Don’t forget to follow us, and if you are and adult, dare to tell us your favourite memories of when you were a kid…
If you are a kid, send us a short story. (Pombo loves those!)
